LEVI’S® BRING BACK ‘SILVERTAB’ COLLECTION

Since debuting in 1988, Levi’s sublabel, ‘SilverTab’ made itself known, especially when loose, baggy fits within the grunge and skateboarding scenes were exploding and the hip-hop scene was beginning to penetrate the mainstream. After brief reissues in 2018 and 2020, the SilverTab line is set to make a comeback in the form of a 27-piece ’90s inspired collection.

The collection includes straight jeans, oversized shorts, drop-shoulder trucker jackets, sherpa jackets, denim work shirts, and flannels in a range of various washes and is identified by the series’ distinctive silver jacrons and fabric tags. The iconic SilverTab globe tees make a comeback as well, and the entire collection will provide items that have been specially chosen for men and women for the first time.
Particularly in its iconic ’94 Baggy SilverTabTM jeans for ladies and the SilverTabTM Loose jean and SilverTabTM Straight jeans for men, baggier drapes and faded washes are given new life.

For the campaign itself, actress Hayley Law and actor and musician Gavin Leatherwood were chosen by Levi’s® to represent the spacious clothing in its advertising campaign. With the addition of accessories, the assemblage’s enormous trousers, Trucker jackets, and shorts, as well as its large graphic tees and tops, evoke feelings of fashion nostalgia.
Check out the campaign and keep in mind that Levi’s® SilverTabTM is currently offered at Levi’s and Kohl’s for prices ranging from $29.50 to 108 USD.

UFO-SHAPED ‘ALIENWARE POP-UP STORE’ IN HANGZHOU, CHINA

Gramco Company sought to design a visible landmark building located in one of the most popular and lively tourist spots in China.
The pop-up shop takes form as a glazed round structure topped by a huge UFO-shaped roof. The overall exterior wall is made up of several large transparent glasses, giving the impression of a floating roof.
The store has a huge UFO-shaped roof supported by an illuminated pillar in the middle. The whole building is circular, so people can see it completely from any position around it. Rest benches are set around the perimeter of the glass wall serving also as a gathering point.
The huge roof on the top prevents direct sunlight and shelters the store from wind and rain. Upon entering the store, accessories are displayed on the surface around the central illuminated pillar, and PCS and monitors are placed on a circular display table on the outer ring of the pillar, just like the scene that gears are falling down from the floating UFO.

POLAROID’S ‘MOST CREATIVE INSTANT CAMERA YET’

Now you can edit photos, use lens filters and click long-exposure shots.
Polaroid is, once again, at a crossroads. It famously survived the death of celluloid film cameras as everyone pivoted to digital media, and somehow managed to remain a relevant product even as smartphone cameras took over, but now as people are constantly pushing to create content and be more ‘creative’ on social media, a simple click-and-print instant camera doesn’t sound like a big deal anymore. To make the instant camera appealing to this new wave of ‘content creators’, Polaroid debuted the Now+, an i-Type camera that comes with a slew of features that upgrade the instant camera experience with filters, lenses, art-styles, and a remote shutter feature through Polaroid’s own smartphone app.
The camera comes with snap-on lens filters that give the images different effects, while the camera now even supports capturing styles like long-exposure photography and double-exposure photography.

The snap-on lens kit features multiple tinted lenses as well as a ‘starburst’ lens for more vivid shots. The Now+ even comes with autofocus capabilities (a feature that was also built into its predecessor, the Now) and extensive creative control thanks to the accompanying Polaroid app. The app lets you adjust the camera’s aperture for either crisp, clear shots, or bokeh-filled low DoF images, while the camera intelligently handles the exposure to give you the best shot. The camera works with a tripod too, and can be remotely triggered via the smartphone app – a feature that’s integral to the Now+’s long-exposure photography mode that can be used for light-painting amongst other things. You can combine and photos too, for double-exposure photography – a feature that’s new to the Polaroid lineup.

IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE CREATED THROUGH MIST AND AUGMENTED REALITY

A new immersive installation has debuted at the Zurich Design biennale 2021 that invites people to wander through a boundless experience. Collaborators authos.ch and designer Stella Speziali combined mist and augmented reality to form this intangible, ephemeral pavilion that redefines the space.

Located in the old botanical garden in the center of Zurich, the installation dubbed ‘Nebulosus’ promotes a mist haze that floats gently 50 square meters above a sea of lush vegetation. The formation is entirely dependent on the meteorological condition of the present moment, offering a unique experience to each visitor. During the day, soft clouds of vapour are in constant motion, creating a sense of boundlessness.
Visitors sense the vanishing of tree boundaries : the space created by the misty cloud is in constant alteration; the digital reality is experienced without any interface; the fusion between the physical and the virtual worlds.

In contrast as the day turns into night the space is transformed into a digital phenomenon. Projection mapping enhances the untouchable essence, while a matrix of dazzling lines and angles react to visitors’ movements. As this new digital world becomes real, visitors of the garden can interact and be part of this new dimension.
