THE WOW FESTIVAL: CELEBRATING WOMEN OF THE WORLD

The Women of the World Festival (WOW) took place at the Southbank Centre in London over the weekend. The festival, founded by Jude Kelly in 2010, has grown into a global movement that promotes diversity, inclusivity, and gender equality.
The festival offers a diverse range of activities, including talks, debates, workshops, performances, and exhibitions. Prominent women from around the world have participated in WOW, as well as up-and-coming artists and performers. WOW provides a safe space for women to connect and network with each other, share their experiences and ideas, and find support and inspiration from each other. It also addresses important issues facing women today, such as gender-based violence, sexual harassment, and the gender pay gap.
Through its activities, WOW encourages women to engage with these issues and become advocates for change. The festival also celebrates the achievements of women throughout history and across different cultures, highlighting the progress that has been made and the work that still needs to be done. WOW has also helped to change perceptions of women and promote gender equality, challenging stereotypes and breaking down barriers.

In summary, the Women of the World Festival is a powerful and inspiring movement that celebrates the contributions of women to the world, promotes diversity, inclusivity, and gender equality, and addresses important issues facing women today. It provides a unique opportunity for women to connect, engage, and be inspired.

HOMIE X SMILEY UNITE TO CHAMPION KINDNESS THROUGH PURPOSE-DRIVEN CAMPAIGN

HoMie (aka Homelessness of Melbourne incorporated enterprise) is an Australian streetwear initiative, that has collaborated with 2 brands, Champion and Smiley, to release a one-of-a-kind clothing collection called Start With A Smile, with all profits going towards providing clothing, training, and work opportunities for young people.
This collection intends to launch a “kindness revolution” by promoting dialogue, building relationships, and, of course, putting a smile on people’s faces, all while referencing Smiley’s long-running tagline, “Take the Time to Smile.”

HoMie’s profits are used entirely to offer clothing, training, and work possibilities for the young people who participate in its programmes. You will be directly supporting the shared visions by purchasing this limited-edition Champion x HoMie x Smiley collab.

The Smiley, on the other hand, has been a part of numerous countercultural movements for over 50 years, having first appeared in 1971. From Thatcher’s hedonistic acid house scene to the current struggle for climate justice, the famous sign — a grinning, yellow face – has shown up everywhere, sending a message of defiant joy. It’s about to become the face of change once more, as part of a collaboration with Champion.

“This new iteration of our ongoing collaboration with Champion excites us tremendously,” HoMie CEO and Co-Founder Nick Pearce says how this new iteration of this ongoing collaboration with Champion is very exciting and that being represented alongside two great worldwide companies boosts HoMie’s profile to “a whole new level”.
The Champion x HoMie x Smiley collaboration is available at Champion shops and online, as well as on HoMie’s website.

THE RISE OF FACE FILTERS

Thanks to Snapchat, face filters have rapidly grown popular due to their weekly-changing options of fun alterations you can use. And although the popularity in their filters (ex. the famous cute dog one) remains, there are some Instagrammers who’ve taken it to the next level.
Johanna Jaskowska (@johwska) is one who’s collaborated with Instagram to create futuristic and glossy visual AR art for the face, giving true sci-fi vibes. Most of hers make people look almost half human-half robot, playing into the relationship between humans and technology. These are more than a simple dog filter, or ones that attempt to perfect your skin, make you appear slimmer or add extra eyelashes (I know we’ve all tried it before!). Instead, it’s pure art; it demolishes beauty standards, and instead, allows you to step into a completely different character and be experimental with your image and perception.
