THE MOST RECENT MERCEDES-BENZ EV CONCEPT BOASTS A 620-MILE RANGE ON A SINGLE CHARGE

Mercedes-latest Benz’s Vision EQXX concept takes EV technology to an entirely new level. Mercedes-Benz is demonstrating its determination to lead the way as the electric era progresses.
According to the unveiling of Mercedes’ concept EV, the EQXX has a 620-mile range before recharging. If the EQXX becomes a reality, it has the potential to outperform competitors such as the Lucid Air Dream Edition by more than 100 miles and even the Tesla Model S Long Range Plus by about 220 miles. Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG, spoke about the concept vehicle’s mission, saying, “We will build the world’s most desirable electric cars.”
The EQXX is expected to be designed for road trips, meeting the progressive demands of today’s modern customers. The EQXX has the agility of a start-up and the speed of a Formula 1 racer thanks to its latest digital innovation. According to simulations, the Vision EQXX would require less than 10 kWh to travel 62 miles on public roads, with an efficiency of more than 6 miles per kWh. In comparison to the EQS, the EQXX’s battery is half the size and thus 30% lighter. The solar panels on the roof would increase the EQXX’s range by 15.5 miles while also improving the car’s aerodynamics.
The Vision EQXX is a lightweight car, weighing 3,858 pounds and having a drag coefficient of 0.17, making it more aerodynamic than a football. Mercedes also claims that 95 percent of the battery energy will be directed to the vehicle’s wheels. The EQXX’s interior is also impressive, with a single 47.5-inch mini-LED 8K screen. It is a one-piece display that spans the entire width of the front dashboard, similar to the Hyperscreen in the EQS. According to Mercedes-Benz AG’s Chief Technology Officer for Development and Procurement,
“As a halo car, the VISION EQXX firmly establishes Mercedes-Benz as the brand that pairs luxury with technology in the automotive world and beyond. And the way we developed it is as revolutionary as the vehicle itself. VISION EQXX has seen the best minds from our R&D centers work together with engineers from our Formula 1 and Formula E programs. They are proving that innovations from motorsport – where powertrains are already highly electrified – have immediate relevance for road car development. We are challenging current development processes with innovative spirit and outside-the-box thinking. This truly is the way forward.”

TESLA RELEASES $20,000 CARBON-CERAMIC BRAKE KIT FOR THE MODEL S PLAID

The Tesla (NASDAQGS:TSLA -1.75 percent) Model S Plaid is without a doubt one of the most spectacular vehicles in existence. Whilst it reaches an impressive 0-60 MPH in 1.99 seconds and holding the Nürburgring lap record for electric automobiles, one thing ruined the fun: its stopping power.
Fear not, Plaid owners: Tesla has introduced a carbon-ceramic brake upgrade kit for the EV – but it will set you back $20,000!
“Designed for the ultimate track experience, the Model S Plaid Carbon-Ceramic Brake Kit is a full hardware kit that offers maximum, reproducible stopping force during high-performance driving,” so it’s ideal for laps around the ‘Ring’.
The new package features carbon-silicon carbide rotors that can resist high temperatures and frequent brake pedal pushes when you spin into curves repeatedly, as well as one-piece forged callipers with high-performance pads and high-temperature brake fluid.
The callipers are red, the automobile industry’s code colour for everything sport-inspired, and the brakes are only available for vehicles equipped with Tesla’s 21″ “Arachnid” wheels.
The Tesla Model S Plaid Carbon-Ceramic Brake Kit will be available in mid-2022.

RECYCLED OCEAN PLASTIC IS USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE FORD BRONCO SPORT

It is generally recognised that the automobile industry is one of the most damaging to our world, and despite the ever-expanding range of electric cars and programmes like BMW’s iVision Circular, there is still much more to be done. As a result, Ford has declared that it would become more sustainable in the future years, beginning with the Bronco Sport, which uses recycled ocean plastic pieces.

The Bronco Sport’s wiring harness clips are created from abandoned plastic fishing nets collected from the Indian and Arabian seas, kicking off the sustainable endeavour. These eco-friendly parts are just as sturdy as petroleum-based parts, but cost 10% less to build and take 10% less energy to manufacture, all while helping the marine environment and, by extension, us people live better lives.
“It is a good illustration of circular economy, and while these clips are modest, they represent a significant first step in our studies to use recycled ocean plastics for additional components in the future,” says Jim Buczkowski, vice president of research and Henry Ford technical fellow.
This is not the first time Ford has utilised recycled water bottles to create lightweight, aerodynamic-enhancing, noise-reducing underbody shields for the 2020 Ford Escape, and it has recycled different sections of its automobiles to be replicated in its manufacturing line.
Ford is collaborating with McDonald’s USA to transform dried coffee bean skins into strengthened headlight housings, and it is also exploring at utilising ex-currency and agave fibre from the tequila-making process to build additional parts for its automobiles.

PIXAR ANIMATION STUDIOS X PORSCHE BRING NOSTALGIA WITH SALLY CARRERA INSPIRED CAR.

Porsche and Pixar are now revealing plans to reincarnate a modern-day 911 Porsche at South by Southwest, Austin’s (Texas, USA) annual festival of design, tech and culture. This news arrives in celebration of the 20th birthday of Sally Carrera, a 2002 Porsche 911 and one of the stars from the 2006 animated Pixar-Disney film ‘Cars.’

Jay Ward, Creative Director of Franchise at Pixar Animation Studios announced ‘for the first time ever, a brand new, street legal Porsche 911 will be built, inspired by the special character we created – Sally Carrera. Only one will ever be made.”
Once complete, the vehicle will later be auctioned in future to raise money for two charities, benefiting childrens’ education, along with families affected by the conflict in Ukraine.
These plans carry a nostalgic spirit as animators from Pixar will collaborate with the German manufacturer to produce a unique, custom Porsche inspired by Sally Carrera, created for the roads and therefore fully functionable as an automobile.
Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America, said his daughters “grew up watching Sally, and it’s wonderful that we can mark a special anniversary with something meaningful that will help others.”
