QUEEN ELIZABETH II DIES: MOVIES & TV SERIES TO REMEMBER HER 70 YEAR REIGN

Published

on

The sad news was announced by Buckingham Palace yesterday (Sep 8 2022). Since Queen Elizabeth II passed aged 96, we explore our top 5 documentaries, TV series and movies about The Queen which have explored her life narrative extensively.

1“Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen” – a BBC documentary that uses Queen Elizabeth II’s own words to recount the narrative of the monarch while also using home movies from her childhood and old footage of royal speeches and weddings.

Along with BBC Select, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Roku all have access to it so you can view.

2. “The King’s Speech” – a historical drama released in 2010 about King George VI, Queen Elizabeth’s father, who ascended to the throne after his brother abdicated. Despite the fact that Queen Elizabeth II isn’t really the focus of this movie, she is depicted as a youthful princess. According to rumours, Queen Elizabeth II saw the film and was moved by how her father was portrayed.

The movie is available to purchase on Google Play, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Vudu, and to stream for subscribers on Hulu, Starz, Roku, Amazon Prime, Sling, and Philo.

3. “Elizabeth: A Portrait in Part(s)” – A Roger Michell-directed Showtime documentary titled “Elizabeth: A Portrait in Part(s)” honours both her historical accomplishments and significant moments in her private life.

Showtime offers it on demand, and Paramount+, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu users can get it as well.

4. “The Queen” – It’s difficult to top this historical drama from 2006. Helen Mirren played the title role, and it was written by Peter Morgan (who later went on to create “The Crown” on Netflix). It was also directed by Stephen Frears.

HBO Max, Hulu, and Roku users can watch the film for free, and it is also available to buy on Google Play, iTunes, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and Vudu.

5. Saving our best till last is Netflix’s “The Crown”, a fictitious portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II’s life from the time she ascended to the throne as a young woman after the death of her father to the present. There is a lot of history here, despite the fact that it is mostly fiction. It’s intriguing and expertly executed. The queen has been portrayed by many actresses at various periods of her life throughout the course of four seasons – with a fifth and sixth on the way too.

“The Crown” is exclusively accessible via Netflix streaming.

May Queen Elizabeth II Rest in Peace.
