Last year, the BAFTAS made the headlines for all the wrong reasons as not one actor of colour was nominated. After understandable uproar, this year is a massive improvement. In the acting categories, there are 16 nominees from ethnic minority backgrounds but leading this is Noel Clarke who has been praised for “bringing diversity to British screens”.

The announcement on Instagram reads, “We are very excited to announce that actor, producer, writer, and director Noel Clarke will receive the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award at the 2021 #EEBAFTAs. From his very first TV appearance over two decades ago in the ground-breaking Channel 4 series, Metrosexuality, Noel Clarke has played a pivotal role in bringing diversity to British screens in front and behind the camera and pushing under-represented talent and stories to the forefront of cinema and television.”

Clarke will be receiving the Outstanding Contribution To Cinema award on April 10th but has already taken to Instagram to say, ‘Thanks for all the support and the people that helped me along the way.”.

The Bulletproof actor first hit our screens on Kidulthood in 2006 and hasn’t stopped since. Continuing his on-screen journey he starred in the sequels Adulthood and Brotherhood before co-founding his production company Unstoppable Entertainment.

Noel is also rumoured to play protagonist in new ITV drama, Viewpoint and his police series with Ashley Walter, Bulletproof has been renewed for a fourth season.

If you ever find yourself in Tokyo on your travels, it’s worth exploring the new official Harry Potter Café, which is to help commemorate the franchise’s success in Japan, especially for fans of the iconic movie series.

The Akasaka Biz Tower, where the café is located, is currently embodying other elements of the Wizarding World, such as a staircase that has been converted to resemble the moving staircase in the franchise. Notably, the staircase connects the tower to the Akasaka ACT Theater, where the play will be performed in Japanese.

So whilst the cafe provides fans with souvenirs and Hogwarts-themed decor, we take a look at the food and drinks on offer:

First, the café offers scones with jams in the shapes of Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff, keeping with its British heritage. The traditional dinner of beans and toast has a Harry Potter twist; it’s called Platform 934 Beans. The Dragon’s Breath Roast Beef and the Owl Post Sunday Roast are some of the heartier snacks.

There is also meat-free Hedwig Cake, which is a dessert. The artistic dish depicts an owl with its beak clutching a Hogwarts acceptance letter.

There are also other potions available. Spells like “Expecto Patronum,” “Wingardium Leviosa,” “Stupify,” and “Herbivicus” are channelled into a variety of cocktails and mocktails, all boiling away beneath the surface to captivate your taste buds.

The magical café is a part of Warner Bros. Entertainment’s spectacular celebration of the July 8th launch of the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Japan. In the meantime, the cafe is open as a soft launch. You can find out more via the site.
