JOE FRESHGOODS’ CULTURAL INSPIRATION FOR NEW BALANCE

Published

on

Shortly after the campaign was announced, we see Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 2002R Conversations Amongst Us has an encompassing story to tell with the accompanying footwear, led creatively by Freshgoods in partnership with new Balance.

The New Balance team produced an accompanying campaign video starring NBA star Kawhi Leonard to represent ideas that Joe Freshgood had about the “dynamic of black men, nonverbal communication and the nonchalant head-nod.”

“I wanted to tell a story of the black experience, emphasizing crucial dialogues that connect the community while inspiring the next generation of black creatives.” Freshgood also shared online.

The pairs to arrive come mixed with white smooth mesh, suede, and leather. There are light blue tongue tabs and the N-ERGY midsoles are in white. Glossy cream slaps across the 2002R branding and on the toe box overlays, while orange linings move along the tongue, seams, and mismatched cutouts on the heel. Cushioned outsoles finish the silhouette in the same colour.

Alongside a pair of 550s that dropped earlier this week, the campaign launched this past weekend at the following retailers: A Ma Maniére and Social Status.
