GUCCI X BALENCIAGA’S HACKER PROJECT HAS DROPPED

The non-collaboration even includes a co-branded Triple S.
After Gucci and Balenciaga announced their joint “Hacker Project” back in April of this year, the two houses have now released the co-branded collection. Described as “an exploration on ideas of authenticity and appropriation within the fashion industry,” the new capsule from the two Kering stablemates sees classic Gucci and Balenciaga silhouettes and codes combined to create something new.
Stand-outs include a rework of Gucci’s GG logo — transformed into a double B logo — which appears on puffa jackets, caps and even socks. Elsewhere, bags have been scrawled with graffiti declaring “This Is Not a Gucci Bag,” and the two label’s logos sit side by side on the crystal-encrusted hourglass suit.
Another key feature is the return of Balenciaga’s divisive Triple S silhouette. For the Hacker Project, the chunky sneaker arrives in two colorways, each of which is covered with nods to both the Gucci and Balenciaga influences.
Continuing the theme of the Hacker Project, each house sells items more commonly associated with the other. The Gucci web store offers items in Balenciaga’s floral print, as well as the Triple S colorways and technical jackets that recall other Demna Gvasalia-designed pieces. The Balenciaga web store focuses on the “This Is Not a Gucci Bag” accessories, as well as the flipped take on the GG logo.

NIKE’S NEW RECYCLED COLLECTION

“Move to Zero” is Nike’s new trainer range consisting of their most sustainable shoes to date. Produced by eco-friendly materials, such as recycled cork from the wine industry or bark that’s produced in a way that isn’t harmful to the tree, each pair are 20% recycled materials.
The soles of the trainers are an outcome of the Plant Cork Pack, a process that infused the cork into the rubber sole. This product release marks Nike’s air to become ‘zero carbon and zero waste’.
The collection includes both new and updated trainer designs; you can purchase the beloved Air Force 1 or Blazer Mild and Air Max alongside a new silhouette, Nike Crate Impact. Their Air VaporMax 2021 is one of their ‘most sustainable shoes to date’ as it’s produced by over 50% recycled resources.

The capsule is inspired by ‘the natural world’ but it isn’t just the sole’s that are eco-friendly, ‘Each shoe is dedicated to a plant we love and brought to life through embroidered botanical designs, scientific infographics and dye sourced from the plant itself.’ Dohnn Ball, on the Plant Cork Pack team, revealed further the inspiration behind the trainer designs, saying, ‘On each shoe we are highlighting a plant, and whatever colour that plant is processed into is the accent colour on that shoe”.
