E-SCOOTER RENTAL SERVICE LAUNCHING IN LONDON IN JUNE

As of next month, Londoners will be able to legally use e-scooters. TfL has confirmed a 12-month trail of the rental scooters as of June 7.
London is joining more than 40 towns and cities in the UK that have trialled the e-scooters as the government consider legalising the devices. Although it hasn’t been revealed how much the cost is, the rental service will be available in six areas including Ealing, Kensington and Chelsea, Canary Wharf, Richmond, Hammersmith and Fulham and the City of London.
Whilst privately owned e-scooters remain illegal, users will only be permitted to ride on roads and cycleways and will have to enrol in an e-learning safety course before they rent for the first time. You will also only be able to travel at a maximum of 12.5mph.
London’s walking and cycling commissioner, Will Norman, commented: “We want to ensure a green, sustainable recovery from coronavirus, and e-scooters are an alternative to cars that could help with this.
“The safety of those using e-scooters, as well as other road users and pedestrians, is absolutely paramount, so it’s important that they are trialled in this rigorous way to ensure high standards. We look forward to exploring the role that e-scooters could play in London’s future.”

NIKE’S NEW RECYCLED COLLECTION

“Move to Zero” is Nike’s new trainer range consisting of their most sustainable shoes to date. Produced by eco-friendly materials, such as recycled cork from the wine industry or bark that’s produced in a way that isn’t harmful to the tree, each pair are 20% recycled materials.
The soles of the trainers are an outcome of the Plant Cork Pack, a process that infused the cork into the rubber sole. This product release marks Nike’s air to become ‘zero carbon and zero waste’.
The collection includes both new and updated trainer designs; you can purchase the beloved Air Force 1 or Blazer Mild and Air Max alongside a new silhouette, Nike Crate Impact. Their Air VaporMax 2021 is one of their ‘most sustainable shoes to date’ as it’s produced by over 50% recycled resources.

The capsule is inspired by ‘the natural world’ but it isn’t just the sole’s that are eco-friendly, ‘Each shoe is dedicated to a plant we love and brought to life through embroidered botanical designs, scientific infographics and dye sourced from the plant itself.’ Dohnn Ball, on the Plant Cork Pack team, revealed further the inspiration behind the trainer designs, saying, ‘On each shoe we are highlighting a plant, and whatever colour that plant is processed into is the accent colour on that shoe”.
