DEVONI IS BACK

Besides being a well known and respected rapper, A$AP Ferg is also the founder of a luxury belt brand Devoni. Dedicated to creating the finest leather belts that are inspired by his father’s work in fashion and design, and later this week the label is set to relaunch online and exclusively in-store at Stavros Karelis‘ Machine-A.
For Ferg, Devoni’s belts are not just belts. “We want people to cherish their belts like art pieces. These are works of art,” he says. With that in mind, each belt is made using the best techniques and materials such as 100% Italian leather — in the case of the “Red Monster” iteration — as well as vegan leather for the “Bettas” belt.
Hardware is made from gold or nickel, and each belt is hand-made in New York City. Lastly, a portion of the proceeds from all Devoni sales goes directly to charitable organisations in Ferg’s hometown of Harlem.
As mentioned, Devoni will launch on the brand’s site on November 12, and in-store at Machine-A on November 13.

THE OSCARS 2023: THE WINNERS, LADY GAGA AND FASHION STANDOUTS

The 95th Academy Awards were nothing short of spectacular, with the iconic red carpet being given a revamp to a “champagne” colour, adding a touch of elegance to the proceedings. But the night was filled with much more than just a new carpet colour. Here are the Oscar 2023 highlights.
FASHION HIGHLIGHTS
Fashion was on full display at the Oscars, with Stephanie Hsu and Florence Pugh showcasing Valentino designs, while Rihanna stunned in a sheer black dress by Tunisian couturier Alaia. Cara Delevingne turned heads in a stunning burgundy dress by Lebanese designer Elie Saab, and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing wore a breathtaking gown by Italian-Lebanese designer Tony Ward.

WINNERS
The night belonged to Everything Everywhere All At Once, which swept the acting awards, with Ke Huy Quan winning Best Supporting Actor, Jamie Lee Curtis winning Best Supporting Actress, and Michelle Yeoh making history as the first Asian woman to win Best Actress. Brendan Fraser also won Best Actor for his role in The Whale, making him the only “big six” category winner who did not win for Everything Everywhere. All Quiet on the Western Front also had an impressive night, ending with four overall victories.
LADY GAGA’S STRIPPED BACK PERFORMANCE
Lady Gaga delivered a powerful, stripped-back performance of her Oscar-nominated song Hold My Hand from the Top Gun: Maverick album, showcasing her vocal prowess in a much more relaxed outfit than what we’re used to seeing her in. The singer gave a brief introduction to the song, stating that it was “extremely personal” to her, and that “we all need a lot of love to walk through this life.”

All in all, the 95th Academy Awards were a night to remember, filled with glamour, history-making wins,
and unforgettable performances.

MIZUNO RELEASE SUSTAINABLY-SOURCED SNEAKER PACK

A new sneaker pack made of sustainable materials was released (14 Oct) by Japanese sportswear brand Mizuno following its collaborations with 24Karats, Footpatrol, and Hajime Sorayama. Three of Mizuno’s most recognisable silhouettes are featured.
The “Undyed Pack” sneakers, which are the latest in Mizuno’s trail-ready Kizuna series, are meant to emphasise the two people’s similar perspectives on community. The next trilogy has contemporary silhouettes like the Contender S and City Wind shoes alongside the 1993 Sky Medal S, which is enhanced by shades of light brown and pale blue.

For sustainable delivery, materials are offered in their natural state. They are all jointly crafted with plush suede overlays, tough canvas underpinnings, gum soles, and cork medial “Enso” logos. The latter highlights their shared appreciation for outdoor spaces while showcasing the beauty that raw materials emanate. The organic appearance and feel of the collection are created by cork and gum rubber.

UK merchants including Flannels, Wellgosh, and others, will start selling the Mizuno “Undyed Pack.” The collection is priced between £105 and £120 GBP, or between $117 and $134 USD.

SNEAK PEEK: UPCOMING CORTEIZ X NIKE AIR MAX 95

If you haven’t been living under a rock, then you should know that Nike and Clint419’s Corteiz brand are collaborating on the Air Max 95, which is likely their largest project to date. Here is the latest.
This comes just after the brand projection of ‘Clint419’ onto the Nike London store earlier last month – a brilliant marketing tactic.
After a recent post on Instagram to preview the upcoming sneakers, it seems that Corteiz has chosen to use a militaristic theme. The caption of the picture, which was posted with a photo of Clint’s Air Max from 2013, says, “DIS AIN’T NO COINCIDENCE. AFTER TEN YEARS. RULESTHEWORLD.”

Multiple colours of green are used for the side overlays, which are finished off with higher layers that resemble army netting. Corteiz’s characteristic Alcatraz logo is incorporated into the tongues in place of the tiny lateral side Swooshes, which have been replaced with the wording. And to further emphasise its military theme, the insoles have a camouflage pattern all over them.

As of right now, there is no debut date for this high-profile cooperation is known, however, most likely it will be announced in March 2023 after Clint419’s speculative tweet. Keep an eye out for updates!
