GLASTONBURY TO HOLD A LIVESTREAM FROM WORTHY FARM

Published

on

Today Glastonbury announced that they will be holding a five hour live stream on May 22nd. Coldplay, Jorja Smith, Kano, Hair, Damon Albarn and Wolf Alice are a few of the headline musicians, but organiser Emily Eavies has already promised more “special guest appearances and collaborations”.

So how is this going to work? Eavis announced, “it’s going to be like the festival but without the people”. Performers will be staged at landmarks around Worthy Farm including the Pyramid field and the stone circle. The show will be directed by Grammy-nominated film producer, Paul Dugal, who previously filmed Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift’s world tours streamed on Netflix.

Virtual Glasto will be broadcast in full across four different time zones, with tickets priced at £20. There’s no stress of having to have all your mates panic buy tickets either as there’s an unlimited capacity. Tickets for the event have already gone on sale with proceeds going to Oxfam, Greenpeace and WaterAid- Glasto’s three main charitable causes. A commemorative poster will also be available to buy, supporting the behind-the-scenes stage crew who have suffered during the pandemic.

Stars such as Michael Kiwanuka and DJ Honey Dijon have offered to waiver their fees after the festival lost £5m from cancelling the festival in 2020. Kiwanuka commented, ‘It’s something that brings people together for all the right reasons, but primarily as a celebration of live music”.
