MAISON MARGIELA’S TAKE ON THE NEW SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FLIP4

Android mobile users are in for a treat. With the new special version of Galaxy Z Flip4, cutting-edge technology and unconventional fashion are combined in Samsung’s first joint venture with Maison Margiela. The luxury French fashion house also add their own spin from the UX design to the accessories.
In the past, Giorgio Armani x Samsung, Prada x LG, Dior Reveries, Moschino, and many others have added their House spin on mobile gadgets from this epochal era. But now, its Maison Margiela’s turn.

The perfect shade of white was “woven” into the smartphone using a drop of grey and Maison Margiela’s distinctive matte solid white colour. The phone also uses Maison Margiela’s décortiqué process, which exposes an object’s core by removing its exterior layers, and it has delicate, translucent lines that represent the phone’s internal circuits.
Turning to the accessories, two recognisable phone covers are featured. First, a distinctive leather cover that embodies the house’s renowned ‘bianchetto’ process, which distils an item’s attractiveness down to its four stitching symbol, representing anonymity. The case has been overpainted to produce a distinctive texture that can change over time, simulating a canvas. The second cover takes a different approach to Maison Margiela’s recognisable number coding ring, representing the DNA of the brand.

According to Samsung, this brand x tech partnership is a perfect collaboration as both brands “believe in breaking with convention and allowing people to celebrate their individuality.”

AMAZON PRIME AIR: DRONE DELIVERIES

In a few months, Amazon will launch a technology that can change the future of online deliveries: delivery drones. The take-off and landing of the drone is identical to a helicopter, and the autonomous drone will be able to fly 15 miles, delivery packages under 2.2 kilograms, and do it all in just under 30 minutes. Talk about modern day conveniences.
It’s advanced AI technology allows it to sense any objects in the way or other hazards while in flight as well as landing. So if you have your washing up on the clothesline in the garden, don’t worry, the computer-vision techniques allows the drones to recognise and avoid such obstacles, like a barely-visible clothesline.
The AI built inside allows the delivery drone to operate smoothly and assure customers that their deliveries are getting to them safely. Best of all, it’s more sustainable than normal delivery vans as fuel usage is saved and emissions are reduced. Here’s to hoping this new drone technology is a success!

HOW KFC INFILTRATED ADS ONTO SPOTIFY PREMIUM’S AD FREE REGIME

Spotify Premium is known for being an ad-free platform where users are able to listen to music with no ads. This feature is what encourages and drives subscribers to continue paying their monthly memberships.
However, by partnering with Dubai-based agency, Memac Ogilvy, KFC Arabia were able to discover a way to sidestep this feature by resourcefully taking over the profiles of three major artists from the region.
With the artists onboard, each profile covered images of the limited-edition double chicken Kentucky Burger. These promotional teasers and images occupied the artists’ profile and cover photos, bios and events. Playlists were also sneakily adjusted using song titles to spell out: “Discover, New, Kentucky, Burger, Come & Visit, KFC. Get It, Before It’s Too Late.”
The campaign was vaunted as “the first campaign ever on Spotify Premium” giving “the Kentucky burger the campaign that it truly deserved.”

APPLE’S MOVE TO SHOPPING IN AUGMENTED REALITY

Apple’s Quick Look AR Feature
This week Apple released a new updated version of their preview feature, Quick Look, which has introduced augmented reality to its users and now allows them to buy the product directly through Apple Pay.
Quick Look allows retailers to upload stickers or three-dimensional models of their products, which can then be superimposed onto the camera image of iPhone and iPad users. This feature enables consumers to benefit from a precise demonstration of how an item would appear in a real-life environment.
With the new update, consumers will be able to immediately buy the product using Apple Pay, through the touch of a button. Beforehand, shoppers would have had to leave the Quick Look preview and revert back to the retailer’s website.
In addition, accurate spatial audio features now support 3D models in Quick Look, such as speakers producing music.
This new fast paced upgrade may have a radical impact in changing the way in which consumers browse and experience online purchasing in times to come.
